Nicholas Smits
Visiting Undergraduate Student

Nicholas Smits is an undergraduate student at Colby College majoring in Chemistry and Mathematical Sciences with a minor in Environmental Studies. Originally from Miami, Florida, he graduated from New World School of the Arts in 2022. He has previously conducted ecological research in the mountains of Maine. After taking an inorganic chemistry course he developed a strong interest in inorganic synthesis and spectroscopy. Nicholas plans to pursue graduate studies in chemistry.

Outside academics Nicholas performs clarinet with the Colby Symphony Orchestra and is an active member of the college's woodsmen team.
