Zuni Smiling Perez grew up between the Dominican Republic and Providence, Rhode Island. She is currently an undergraduate student majoring in Chemistry (B.S.) with minors in Physics and Mathematics and a certificate in Nuclear Engineering. Interested in the intersection of molecular design and nuclear chemistry, she joined the lab to explore fundamental questions in actinide chemistry and their broader applications. Outside of research, Zuni is involved in the URI Marching Band and enjoys participating in outreach, recruitment, and teaching opportunities within the Chemistry Department, including serving as a URI 101 Mentor.
